Adobe Flash won’t go away, yet.  It’s trying.  It’s off the highway let’s say; meandering in the breakdown lane of a very long off ramp, with half a tank of gas and no real sense of urgency.

Until then, your best practice is to use Flash on an as-needed basis.  A lot of the web you use still isn’t fully committed to HTML5 – everything from product customizers to web conferencing tools – which leaves you with the occasional requirement to use the F bomb.

For Chrome, you should add a shortcut to your bookmarks bar for chrome://plugins, which gives you easy access to turn it on and then off again when you’re done.  Flash is so gross that you really need to operate in this manner until it finally goes away.
